Television. "The Best Pastry Chef" on M6: What Season 14, Mercotte's Last, Has in Store for You

The Best Pastry Chef returns this Wednesday evening for its 14th season. Cyril Lignac and Mercotte, the flagship show on M6, put on their finest aprons to judge the 14 contestants.
"Ready, steady, bake!" The iconic duo of Mercotte and Cyril Lignac , who have been hosting Le Meilleur Pâtissier since its launch, are back on air for the last time in the show's 14th season, airing this Wednesday evening on M6. The 82-year-old pastry chef will be putting away her tome at the end of this season.
The competition's three flagship challenges will still be on the menu: Cyril's revisited classic, Mercotte's technical challenge, and the creative challenge led by a top pastry chef. The spirit? "Going back to the program's roots, more pastry, less mechanics," explains one of the show's co-producers. As always, the candidates will be visited by renowned pastry chefs Yann Couvreur, Nina Metayer, Pierre Hermé , and Christophe Michalak, who will lend a hand and coach the amateurs during the creative challenge.
Cakes take center stageThis season's focus will be on the participants' "pastry universe." Diversity reigns supreme, with origins from North Africa, Ivory Coast, Quebec, Belgium, and Alsace.

Cakes will be the center of attention, and viewers will be able to remake some of them by accessing the recipes available on M6+. So, no more Orangerie, set up last year to show the candidates' intimate moments, as well as the "golden cupcake," which allowed a candidate to be immune. Actress Laëtitia Milot is back as presenter. But this year, no more "comedy sketches." The host will be more about empathy and support for the candidates, whom she wants to "get to know" to better fulfill her role.
As for the mechanics, it remains the same regarding the eliminations: the unlucky candidate will actually have a chance to re-enter the competition, since a competition will take place in parallel and will be broadcast in the second part of the evening. Noëmie Honiat, discovered in Top Chef and one of the faces of The Best Bakery in France and Mohamed Belkassam, emblematic candidate of season 10 of The Best Pastry Chef , will decide the duels between the outgoing candidates. The one who goes to the end will be able to re-enter the main competition. The 14 budding pastry chefs, aged between 8 and 61, will try to succeed Timothée, the young 17-year-old winner of season 13.
The Best Pastry Chef season 14, broadcast from this Wednesday, September 10, from 9:10 p.m., on M6.
